what did you see today : 3 : moses

today as i was driving down hohola-way i saw through the heat-haze a solitary man wavering on the sandy side of the bitumen shore and i felt suddenly terribly sad - today i saw my uncle moses, my mothers brother, a head of his family, the leader of a tribe and today i saw him wavering on the side of a road, like he was lost

coursie. i spun around pronto and picked him up - he was very surprised to see me. he dont speak no english or pidgin and i dont speak no engan but i intuited and drove him to his daughters house - which also happens to be on my street.

i do love my uncle moses. he a good good man. also a very old one now.

it always catches me right in the gut when i see "older" people of mine to be vulnerable in some way.

i guess you never suspect they are real people too and capable of feeling and being "in need" and capable of being taken advantage of - its scary.

he was just out of his ples. and in someon elses city he becomes small and that was what i felt awful about. because its not true to his stature at all.

then i chastise myself - once again - for reading too muchie into everything lala.
